Hookstown Fair
Queen Program
Is to promote
greater public understanding and awareness of agriculture and
its importance to Pennsylvania.
The 2008 Fair
Queen will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship for the purpose of
higher education and will participate in many of the activities
at the fair.
She also will
represent the Hookstown Fair at the Pennsylvania State Fair
Convention in January, as well as other events to which she may
be invited throughout her reign.
Contestants must
live in Pennsylvania, have never been married, and be at least
16 years old and not older than 20 by
June 1, 2008.
As part of the
competition, each contestant is required to write an essay
titled "What My Fair Means to My Community" and
present a three to five minute speech on "Why You Should
Come to the Hookstown Fair."

Eight young ladies competed for the 2008 Hookstown Fair Queen
title and a $1,000 scholarship sponsored by Midway Rides of Utica

| Ashley Hanne, 17, daughter of Bob and Julie Hanne of Hookstown. She is a student of South Side High School. Her plans include attending a college for a degree in nursing with plans to work in an emergency room atmosphere and eventually become a nurse within a helicopter field. |

| Katie Brown, 18, daughter of Ken and Mary Brown of Clinton. She is a graduate of Robinson Township Christian School and will attend Grove City College to major in Biology. She would like to attend medical school to become a doctor. |

| Kelsey Winkle, 16, daughter of Anthony and Donna Winkle, of Hanover Township. She is a student at South Side High School. She plans to attend a four year college. |

Diane Stasiowski, 16, daughter of Karen Leasha, of Shippingport.
She is a student at South Side High School. Her career goal is to become a professional photographer and to have her own studio. |

| Lindsay Soltis, 17, daughter of Matthew and Caroline Soltis, of Greene Township. She is a student at South Side High School. She plans to attend a four year college to major in elementary and special education and minor in mathematics. She plans to pursue a career in teaching. |

| Sarah Avery, 17, daughter of Charles and Andrea Avery of Hookstown. She is a student of South Side High School. Her future plan is to attend college to major in music therapy. |

| Samantha Gourley, 17, daughter of George and Barbara Gourley of Greene Township. She is a student of South Side High School. Her future goal is to attend a four year college to major in elementary and special education. |
