the 2010 Contest


Applications, rules and regulations are available by writing to:

Applications must be returned to the fair address by July 15th.

Hookstown Fair Queen Program 

Is to promote greater public understanding and awareness of agriculture and its importance to Pennsylvania.

The 2010 Fair Queen will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship for the purpose of higher education and will participate in many of the activities at the fair.

She also will represent the Hookstown Fair at the Pennsylvania State Fair Convention in January, as well as other events to which she may be invited throughout her reign.

Contestants must live in Pennsylvania, have never been married, and be at least 16 years old and not older than 20 by 
June 1, 2010.

As part of the competition, each contestant is required to write an essay titled "What My Fair Means to My Community" and present a three to five minute speech on "Why You Should Come to the Hookstown Fair."


 

 

Fair Queen Contest - 2010

Six young ladies will compete for the 2010 Hookstown Fair Queen title.  The winner will be crowned during the opening ceremony of the fair in the main arena at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24.

Shannon McDonald, the 2009 Hookstown Fair Queen, will crown this year’s queen.  She is the daughter of Jeff and Carolyn McDonald of Clinton.  Shannon plans to attend Grove City College this fall to major in Secondary Education / English Literature.

Competing for this year's title and a $1,000 scholarship sponsored by Midway Rides of Utica are:


Morgan Anderer, 17, daughter of Thomas and Diane Anderer of Hanover Twp.
  
She attends South Side High School and plans to attend a University to major in Civil
Engineering. 


Becca Birge, 16, daughter of Randy Birge and Lynnette Norris of Beaver. 
 
She is a student at Beaver Area High School and plans to become a registered nurse in the Air Force. 


Sonya Domaracki 19, daughter of Martin and Kandy Domaracki, of Hopewell.

She is a graduate of Rochester High School and will attend Penn State Beaver. She plans to become a Veterinarian or a Marine Biologist.


Kathleen Hogan, 17, daughter of Patrick and Susan Hogan of Clinton.
 
She is a student at South Side High School and plans to attend the Pittsburg Veterinary Technical
Institute in the Fall of 2011.


Stephanie Moore, 16, daughter of Todd and Lisa Moore of Greene Township.
 
She is a student at South Side High School and plans to attend a college to become a Speech Therapist for mentally challenged children.


Kelsey Winkle, 18, daughter of Anthony and Donna Winkle, of Hanover Township.  
 
She is a graduate of South Side High School and will attend Thiel College
this fall. Her goal is to become a Kindergarten or 1st Grade Teacher.
